Review Methodology

Last updated: May 2026

This page explains the criteria and process we use to evaluate and compare financial products on credit.letsthinkwise.com. Our methodology is designed to be consistent, transparent, and focused on the factors that matter most to consumers.

How We Evaluate Credit Cards

We assess credit cards across five key dimensions:

Cost

  • Annual fee and joining fee
  • Renewal fee waivers (spend-based or otherwise)
  • Forex markup percentage
  • Late payment charges and interest rates (APR)
  • Other fees: cash advance, overlimit, card replacement

Rewards

  • Earn rate by spend category (dining, travel, groceries, online, etc.)
  • Redemption value (point-to-rupee conversion)
  • Reward caps and monthly/quarterly limits
  • Milestone benefits and spend-linked bonuses

Eligibility

  • Minimum income requirements (salaried and self-employed)
  • Credit score threshold
  • Employment type restrictions
  • Age and geographic eligibility

Features

  • Airport lounge access (domestic and international)
  • Complimentary insurance coverage
  • Fuel surcharge waiver
  • EMI conversion facility and interest rates
  • Supplementary card benefits

Usability

  • Mobile app quality and functionality
  • Customer support reputation and resolution quality
  • Card network (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay) and acceptance

How We Evaluate Loans

For personal loans, home loans, and other lending products, we compare:

  • Interest rates: Compared at similar tenures and loan amounts for fair benchmarking
  • Processing fees and hidden charges: Including documentation fees, insurance bundling, and administrative charges
  • Disbursement speed: Time from application to fund disbursal
  • Eligibility flexibility: Minimum income, credit score requirements, and employer restrictions
  • Prepayment and foreclosure terms: Charges, lock-in periods, and part-payment options

How We Rank “Best” Lists

Note: Rankings are NOT determined by affiliate commission amounts. Our editorial decisions are independent of our commercial relationships.
  • Every “best” list is built for a specific use case (e.g., “best for travel,” “best for first-time users”) — not a generic “best overall”
  • We weight cost, rewards, and eligibility according to the target audience of each list
  • All data points are verified from official issuer websites before publication
  • Products that do not meet minimum eligibility or feature requirements for a category are excluded

Comparisons (A vs B)

  • We compare the same fields for both products to ensure a fair, apples-to-apples assessment
  • Our verdict states who each product suits rather than declaring a single “winner”
  • We highlight trade-offs clearly so you can make an informed decision based on your specific needs

Limitations

Important: Please keep these limitations in mind when using our reviews and comparisons.
  • Offers change. We update content regularly, but published data may lag behind issuer changes. Always verify current terms with the bank or lender before applying.
  • Approval is not guaranteed. Our eligibility estimates are based on publicly available criteria. Actual approval depends on the lender’s internal assessment of your profile.
  • Coverage is not exhaustive. We may not cover every product available in the market. Our reviews focus on products with sufficient publicly available data.
